The purpose of our NPO is to set up an open, globally usable and collaboratively editable, interactive platform for the presentation of relationships between events, actors, and geographical entities in their historical contexts. Our focus is on the representation of different, verifiable points of view and perspectives on the same events and their embedding in the larger regional and temporal context. By concentrating on documented data and facts, we want to promote civic debate between people with different points of view.
We want to combine the collaborative accumulation of knowledge with a spatio-temporal visualization based on a linked data representations with an ontology specifically designed for the representation of historical data. We build on existing graph representations of linked objects combined with GIS software for location based data. Once our prototype implementation of the platform required for this achieves all the essential aspects of this functionality, we will release a public beta version.
